The overall price index has moved up again for the second month running, and now stands at 100.5, that’s a 0.5% overall increase in prices since December 2015, and a 0.2% increase in February. Here’s what we’ve seen this past month…

  • In Connaught/Ulster and Munster there has been no change in prices this month.
  • However we have seen some price increases in a small number of takeaways in Leinster (Dublin specifically) and Northern Ireland (Belfast specifically).
  • The increases have been applied across all product groups except Fresh Cod and Chicken Goujons

This may well reflect the stuff we’ve all been hearing from the politicians in the run up to the recent election – the improvement in the economy is not consistent across the country.

It might also reflect the higher rents being charged in Dublin and Belfast compared to other parts of the country.
