Shake Shack started out as a mobile food cart in Madison Square Park, New York in 2000 selling hamburgers. Today it’s a publicly quoted company on the NY stock exchange and one of the fastest growing gourmet burger restaurants in the USA, still only serving hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, and milkshakes.

In 2016 it finally added a chicken fillet burger to the menu after researching the product for 2 years and testing extensively in the second half of 2015 in a limited number of its restaurants.

All this research and testing led them to… wait for it… a marinated chicken fillet in a crispy fried coating, with lettuce, buttermilk mayo, and pickles in a toasted bun.

If they had only asked us, we could have saved them a lot of time and testing, except for the pickles maybe!

They’ve called it the Chicken Shack, and we have to say, it’s a handsome looking sandwich. Reviews have been excellent, describing it as tender and juicy chicken with a lovely crunchy coarse breadcrumb coating.

The official results of the taste test we carried out are pictured here…
